The cut-off date of 2026 draws inexorably closer. The likelihood of cash-strapped surveying authorities having the resources to process even a few additional modification order applications is small. This paper sets out a scheme that draws on the best parts of the 1949, 1968, 1981, and 2015 Acts to provide a simple mechanism to put unrecorded rights of way on to the definitive map and statement without the need for costly and time-consuming individual orders. It will also work for public path orders.
